How to prepare for a frozen embryo.

Updated: Apr 11

Diet

The focus is on supporting the healthy growth of the uterine lining when preparing for an embryo transfer. In order to get to an optimal lining measurement, you want to provide a lot of nutrient-rich blood flow to the uterine lining. Foods that blood building and provide increased iron are:

  1. Dark leafy greens: spinach, kale, rapini, bok choy, collard greens

  2. Beets

  3. Pumpkin seeds

  4. Red meat – preferably organic

Foods high in nitric oxide help dilate blood vessels, thereby increasing blood flow to the uterus. These include:

  1. Citrus fruits: lemons, limes, oranges

  2. Pomegranate

  3. Beets

  4. Dark leafy greens

Supplements

Supporting an embryo transfer with the right nutrients is another key step when preparing for an embryo transfer. Some of the nutrients include:

  1. Vitamin D

  2. Omega 3 Fatty acids

  3. Vitamin E

  4. N-acetyl cysteine

  5. Folic acid

  6. Vitamin B12

Acupuncture

Using acupuncture can be a quick and effective way to promote and provide blood flow to the reproductive organs, especially to the endometrial uterine lining. Once your egg retrieval is over, it is best to start or continue with acupuncture to prepare the lining for the transfer. Pre & post-transfer acupuncture has also been shown to provide a much higher rate of success vs when no acupuncture is done.
